Joel Martinez is a Principal Software Engineering Manager with over two decades of experience spanning developer tooling, AI, cloud platforms, mobile, and the game industry. He is currently leading teams that are building software at Microsoft for Startups, where he helps bring new ideas to life in support of early-stage founders.
While at Microsoft Learn, his team shipped key products including the AI-powered “Ask Learn” question-answering service and a new green-field implementation of Microsoft Q&A, which launched with zero outage incidents. Prior to that, Joel worked on Azure documentation systems, cognitive search integrations, and developer experience tooling.
Joel’s earlier career includes work at Xamarin, where he developed custom CMS solutions and maintained core
documentation tools like mdoc, as well as at About.com, where he led development of mobile applications
for iOS and Android. He’s also contributed to the finance and healthcare sectors, developed training systems for
medical simulation labs, and built games for Xbox Live Indie Games and Windows Phone independently after having worked
for Electronic Arts where he built content and audio tools for Superman Returns: The Game.
An advocate for community and mentorship, Joel founded the Orlando .NET User Group and helped grow it into one of the largest developer communities in Central Florida. He has spoken at numerous events, contributed to open source projects, and authored multiple technical books.
His work is driven by a passion for learning, empowering others, and creating systems that scale knowledge and capability—whether through code, teams, or platforms.
Explore the platform
Start with the features hub
CodeCube is more than a publishing engine. It also includes interactive systems for spatial navigation, browser-side visualization, web audio, and a terminal-style interface that make the site feel more like a platform than a portfolio.

/viz/ Interactive 3D Experience
/viz/ is the most visible expression of CodeCube's experimental side: a browser-native 3D environment for scene modules, camera-driven exploration, and visual storytelling. If you want the technology behind that experience, the supporting feature pages dive into Photonic and Sonance.
Project Estimation Workbench
The Project Estimation Workbench turns dependency graphs, staffing decisions, and uncertainty ranges into something you can actually explore. Instead of reducing delivery planning to a single date, it lets the site show the shape of risk and schedule tradeoffs directly.
Projects
Chloroplast
Wilderness Labs' powerful documentation engine that transforms markdown source content into beautiful, publishable HTML. Built as a modern static site generator, Chloroplast streamlines the documentation workflow for developers and technical writers.
Modulator
Modulator is a C# library for generating and manipulating modulated waveforms. It centers on a simple IModulationSource interface, composable modulators, and oscillator building blocks including sine, digital square, and analog square wave sources for audio synthesis and signal experiments.
HootCAD
HootCAD turns VS Code into a programmable CAD workspace. You write JSCAD, preview the model live beside the code, and export manufacturing-ready formats like STL, OBJ, DXF, SVG, and AMF from the same workflow, with Git-friendly text files and optional MCP-based agent assistance.
