I'd love to be a part of a project like that ... it would be really cool if a grassroots effort was started to develop an e-voting system (in .NET of course ;-) ). There are some aspects of the open source movement that I really admire, this is one of them. I don't see any reason why the public shouldn't have access to see how the plumbing of their government works. I mean, many things in government are already a matter of public record ... make the software one of those things.
