This site pushes people to get real creative with their entries to keep the download size under 5k.
Where else can you find Dope Wars done in under 5k. Or a 3-D Engine implemented in under 5k of code.
While I love to look at some of the graphic intensive sites out there for their aesthetically pleasing look, people need to wake up and realize that they find other ways of doing a good design without thrusting a billion images down the users throat.
A perfect example of this is Computerjobs.com. They recently upgraded to asp.net and got some performance gains which is great. But their site design still remains quite the bloated one. You can just see the site contort as the images download, and the browser renders the page.
