Browser wars all over again

XHTML 2.0 recently got drafted ...

That's all fine and dandy, but you'll notice that they've changed a couple of things ... mainly the fact that they've deprecated some common html tags like br and img.

People will upgrade you say?

seems rather ironic that we where all clamoring to snub out old browsers for new HTML standards, and now, new HTML standards are snubbing us. The reason this will be a problem is because lots of people (even when using an "updated" OS like XP) will leave the default browser installed ... as such, much of the non-tech savvy populace will be left with non xhtml 2.0 compliant browsers. IE6 will become the new Netscape 4x.

The only saving grace I see is that XHTML 2.0 might take a couple of years to be approved and by then, we should have some compliant browsers

ok ... time to get off my soapbox and get back to work.
